The end of the year is a natural time to pause and reflect on the experiences of the academic year. Over the last ten months, we have had many opportunities to learn, interact, grow and just be. John Dewey (1933) was a forerunner in the notion of reflection as a mode of thought. “We do not learn from experience,” he maintained. “We learn by reflecting on our experiences.”He encouraged instructors to step away from routine and towards a more aware type of practice. Learning is continual in the educational environment; we are always developing. There is always more to study and comprehend in order to improve our teaching abilities. Braun and Crumpler (2004) expressed it well in their study on teacher reflection. read more

The journey through the PYP curriculum is concluded with the PYP Exhibition. It involves both teamwork and individual effort. Students have been given an opportunity to showcase skills, share understandings, develop Learner Profile attributes, consolidate knowledge, and take action. read more

There were so many positive things to reflect upon and celebrate this school year at ISD as we conclude the 2022-2023 academic session. Students and teachers took full advantage of an entire year on campus and our strong academic and extracurricular programs flourished as a result. I am extremely proud and grateful to our faculty and staff who contribute to a safe, welcoming learning environment at ISD. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by amazing students who are the highlight of each and every day at ISD.  read more
