ISD is a Smoke-Free Campus – A Poster Campaign

Some of our grade 6 students participated in a service activity that was focused on designing posters to remind our community that ISD is a smoke-free campus. The intended outcome was to highlight the dangers of smoking and vaping using posters as a medium. Students considered who their primary audience would be for the posters as this would inform the information they included in the posters, the language they used and the selection of any images which needed to be appropriate for a school setting.

This was an opportunity for them to demonstrate their thinking and communication skills by:

  • brainstorming about the message they wanted to deliver
  • deciding how best to deliver the message visually
  • collaborating with a partner to create the poster.

A job well done to the grade 6 students on rising up to the task of informing the community about the dangers of smoking and vaping.
