Agency in Primary

Thursday 2nd December was our ‘3 Way Conferences’ in Primary. Children from the ages of 2 to 11 were given the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with their teacher and their parents and share their learning and what their next steps in their learning are.

Playgroup students demonstrated how they learn through play and the names and attributes of a variety animals, Pre-K students spoke of the materials they plan to use to build their own home, Grade 2’s spoke of how they intend to demonstrate their knowledge of the human body through a board game they are designing and Grade 5’s spoke at length about the lineage of time and where various ancient cultures sit within time.

All of this is recognised as student agency. Students taking ownership of their learning, sharing, explaining, demonstrating and taking action. Thank you Primary Students. You all really stand tall and show what it means to be a Hawk!
