My name is Tahsina Rahman (Wafa), I have four children currently studying at the ISD in Grades 4, 9, 10, and 11.

Our family moved to Dhaka from Singapore about two and a half years ago, after living there for seven years. ISD has become an important part of our family’s life. We have had a generally positive experience here while also recognizing that there are opportunities to further improve our children’s learning experience and overall wellbeing.

Having children across both primary and secondary allows me to understand the school from multiple perspectives and gives me a broad view of the different needs of students. This helps me better understand the concerns of parents across different age groups.

In addition, while living in Singapore, I served as the Country Representative for Bangladesh in my kids school, which gave me experience in leadership, communication, community engagement and working with diverse communities.

I am a strong believer in collaboration and I am committed to representing parents’ voices in a respectful way to where we can create solutions.

My hope for the PTA in the coming year is that it becomes an effective platform for addressing parents’ concerns while working with teachers and school leadership. Many of the issues parents face are universal, and by coming together, we can identify and solve the concerns of parents and students by taking meaningful action. I believe that through cooperation, transparency, and mutual respect, we can help make ISD an even better place. One where every child feels heard, supported, inspired, and able to grow into the best version of themselves.
