WWW Chiang Mai Grade 7

Sawadee krap.

Grade 7 students along with Mr. Towfiq, Mr. Ayaz, Ms. Rebecca and Ms. jayana had an amazing experience at the Land of Smiles. We visited Chiangmai, the largest city in Northern Thailand.

For Week Without Walls our home base was the campus of PREM International School, located on a 100-acre greens in the foothills north of the ancient and historic city of Chiang Mai. The students of grade 7 embraced the challenge of living outside the comfort of their home, especially after being locked in for almost two years due to COVID. The trip gave them the opportunity to see the world around them by being independent and inspiring their peers during challenging activities. The students wanted to share the following 5 highlights from all the life changing activities they have experienced.

Community Service – The students felt empowered by helping a community school (Ban Pangkwang School) build their boundary wall where displaced children from Myanmar were studying. They also read to the students, played with them and enjoyed a meal at the school. Students decided to donate their snack money to buy sporting equipment and medicine for the misplaced children.

Muay Thai lesson – The students learned Muay Thai and self-defense skills from three experts to build their self-confidence and enhance their ability to endure hardships while having fun during the activity. The activity taught them the need for discipline and healthy living.

Zip Lining – This was one of the most challenging activities they have done in years. They learned how to overcome fear and take on challenges in life.

Thai cooking lesson – This was a very relaxing yet helpful lesson for our students. They enjoyed the meal prepared by themselves which enabled them to appreciate the meals they eat everyday. The students were enthusiastic about demonstrating the skills they learned in the lesson by cooking for their families.

Elephant retirement park – The visit to the park gave our students a better understanding of animal rights. They can use the knowledge and experience acquired at the park to help endangered animals around the world.

We also did activities like farming, visiting an insect zoo, making paper from elephant poop, taking art lessons and learning about Thai culture and language to name a few.. Overall we had a very productive tour, full of life lessons that helped our students become more internationally minded life long learners.
