Message from the PYP Coordinator

The child

is made of one hundred.

The child has

a hundred languages

a hundred hands

a hundred thoughts

a hundred ways of thinking

of playing, of speaking.

A hundred always a hundred…

from the poem “No way. The hundred is there.”

by Loris Malaguzzi. Translated by Lella Gandini

At International School Dhaka we aim to nurture early years students to use all ‘hundred languages’ to explore and understand the world around them. Their learning may be expressed in a  variety of ways through, art, drama, play, construction, movement, dance and language. We have a dedicated early years play space where children can play and learn.

We use the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework to guide our planning, learning and assessment of each child’s learning journey.  This programme aims to develop the ‘whole child’. We recognise the importance of early years education to help children grow and develop through age appropriate experiences. The children will learn both inside and outside the classroom with classroom and specialists teachers.

We help the children to develop their own innate curiosity about the world around them. We encourage them to develop their imagination and knowledge in order to be in charge of their own learning. The children are supported to develop key skills in thinking, socialising, communicating and developing independence.

We recognise that play is incredibly important for early years children. We know they learn about their world through play and plan opportunities for this at school.
