Celebrating 10 years of excellence in international education
The International School Dhaka (ISD) was set up by STS Educational Group Ltd, a company inside the STS Group as a proprietary institution, to provide an international education for the many students in Bangladesh who seek education of the highest standards and aspire to a university education overseas and in Bangladesh. In addition to ISD, the STS Group has also built the first modern, medical facility in Dhaka that provides state of the art medical care to residents of the city.
In 1998, STS Group decided to diversify into the supply of educational and medical services of an international standard and consequently set up subsidiaries and acquired land in the Bashundhara development, a site in the northeast quadrant of the city. Bashundhara is a short drive from the main residential and diplomatic enclave in Baridhara and Gulshan, the affluent suburbs containing residential apartments, shopping arcades and restaurants. In 1998, construction of the school began on a 5.5 hectare plot and was completed during the course of the 1999-2000 school year, when the first classes from Nursery to Grade 5 were admitted.
Today the construction is complete and the school fully occupies the richly landscaped site with classroom space for three-form entry from Nursery (aged 3-4 years) to Grade 12, swimming pool, gymnasium, playing field, cafeteria, fully-equipped theater that seats 360, science labs, computer suites and a purpose-built library. A well established Information Communication Technology provision supports all aspects of school operation. The standard of construction and allocation of space is generous. The layout, standard of finish and use of space is conducive to the educational purpose of the structures.
The International School Dhaka was granted NEASC accreditation on 4 November, 2004 and CIS accreditation on 25 November, 2004, following a joint NEASC/CIS visit in May 2004.
